Hard-Stain Brown Laundry Soap — 1 kg Oils

Palm oil 500 g
Palm kernel oil (PKO) 300 g
Coconut oil 200 g
Caustic soda (NaOH) 143 g
Water 286 g
Washing soda (sodium carbonate) 50 g
Sodium silicate 30 g
CMC 10 g
Brown soap colour 2–5 g or q.s.
Laundry fragrance 5–10 g
Total oils: 1,000 g
Method
Put on gloves, goggles and protective clothing. Work in a well-ventilated area.
Slowly add 143 g NaOH to 286 g water. Never pour water onto NaOH.
Melt the palm oil, PKO and coconut oil together.
Allow both the oils and lye solution to cool to around 35–45°C.
Pour the lye solution into the oils and blend until you reach trace.
Add the washing soda gradually and mix thoroughly.
Add the sodium silicate and CMC, mixing until evenly incorporated.
Add the brown colour and fragrance.
Pour into your mould and leave for 24–48 hours.
