Cold Process Milk & Saffron Soap Recipe
This recipe makes about 1 kg of soap and produces a creamy, moisturizing bar with a light golden color from saffron.![]()
Ingredients
Oils
400 g Olive oil
300 g Coconut oil
200 g Palm oil (or shea butter as an alternative)
100 g Castor oil
Lye Solution
135 g Sodium hydroxide (NaOH / lye)
300 g Frozen milk (goat milk or cow milk)
Additives
1 tablespoon Milk powder
15–20 Saffron threads
15–20 drops essential oil (optional: sandalwood, rose, or lavender)
Tools
Digital scale
Heat-safe bowls
Stick blender
Silicone soap mold
Thermometer

Making Steps
Prepare saffron milk
Crush saffron threads slightly.
Soak them in 2 tablespoons warm milk for about 15 minutes.
Make the lye solution
Use frozen milk cubes to prevent burning.
Slowly sprinkle lye into the milk (never milk into lye).
Stir gently until dissolved.
Keep temperature around 30–35°C.
Melt oils
Melt coconut oil and palm oil gently.
Add olive oil and castor oil.
Let oils cool to about 35–40°C.
Mix lye and oils
Pour the lye solution into the oils.
Use a stick blender until you reach light trace (mixture slightly thick).
Add ingredients
Mix in:
Milk powder
Saffron infusion
Essential oil (optional)
Pour into mold
Pour the soap batter into the mold.
Tap mold gently to remove air bubbles.
Insulate and rest
Cover and leave for 24 hours to harden.
Cure the soap
Unmold and cut bars.
Cure for 4–6 weeks in a dry ventilated place.
